Valley 82790 Class III Receiver Hitch Review

Valley 82790 Class III Receiver Hitch Review
This hitch by Valley is a perfect bolt-on Class III/IV hitch (5000/6000 pounds) for the 2010 Toyota Tacoma. It is very similar to the Toyota factory hitch; as it literally bolts in place in the same holes, no modifications are needed and no dis-assembly of the existing truck or bumper is required (unlike other brands). It was nice to have my son helping by holding it up against the frame while I did the bolting. 20 minutes at most for the whole installation. Note: this hitch uses 4 bolts to the frame and 2 bolts in the rear bumper step. The length of the 2 bolts in the step are a little long and will interfere with locking hitch pins, unless these two bolts are trimmed short after installation. Standard non-locking hitch pins work without any interference. To install this or any other frame mounted hitch correctly you will need to borrow or buy a torque wrench to place the correct amount of torque on the bolts (for this hitch 75 ft-lbs of torque on the frame bolts and 150 ft-lbs of torque on the bumper bolts is specified).

Amazon packing and shipping was great.
This is the perfect aftermarket hitch for my 2009 Tacoma. I did some research and this one is the only one that uses the bumper knockouts for additional mounting bolts. Very secure hitch and only the reciever can be seen after installation unlike some other models. One note: this does not include a receiver cover. You can get one at any wal-mart or auto parts store for about 5 bucks. The shipping package was fine although there was an earlier review that indicated a problem. Mine arrived unscathed and was well packaged in a box with all mounting hardware well secured to the hitch. You will not be disappointed!
