CIPA 11960, Universal Towing Mirror This instant

After a bit of research I purchaced a pair of these mirrors to use when towing my travel trailer. I have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma. I received 2 mirrors from Amazon. To my suprise they had some minor differences between them. Apparently CIPA changed the design a little bit. I really like the newer design better, as it comes with metal clips that seem to work a lot better then the plastic ones. I also liked the "feet" (that hold it on the back of the mirror) on the newer model a lot better. They are much sturdier and seem to hold better. In any case, you have an option to also purchase convex (wide angle) mirror replacements and a storage bag from the manufacter. When I called to order the convex mirrors, I told them about my concerns. The company send me new clips and new "feet" (along with a bunch of extra sticky feet pads) to replace the ones on the older mirror model (at no charge). After upgrading the older model, and putting in the convex mirrors, they really are excellent towing mirrors. One minor gripe here...if the company had the option of ordering the mirrors with the convex mirror lenses to start with, I would have just done that rather then spend the extra $12.99 on a pair of them. For the record though the convex mirrors only took about 5 min to replace and it was very easy.

A few things to note, they do take a little time to adjust the first time you attach them to your car, but after that they take only a couple minutes to attach or remove. Also, if you leave them on for more then a day, you do need to check them and retighten them, adjust them, etc... I would also suggest trying out the normal mirrors that come with them prior to ordering the convex ones. The normal mirrors were adequite for my first couple of towing trips, but I really like the convex mirrors a lot better, they really show a lot more space and give you a bit more confidence when changing lanes.

When in use, there is very little vibration and you can see very well with them. I wouldn't want to tow anything without them. If they broke, I probably would buy them again. They are made of a pretty sturdy plastic and it seems like they will last for awhile. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because you had to order the convex mirrors seperate (after you already purchased the product) and because of the "upgrades" I had to do on the older model, but again, the customer service was excellent and they seem to stand behind their product if you have any issues.
