Boone Outdoor aka The Wedge No Rattle Hitch Stabilizer Review

Boone Outdoor aka The Wedge No Rattle Hitch Stabilizer Review
I wanted to eliminate the bounce in my bike rack and thought that this device would do that for me. Well, I put it on and tightened it down, but my bike rack still moved up & down. So, I tightened it further and the black "metal" bracket snapped in half. It didn't bend (like I assumed metal would), it simply broke in half. I would not recommend this item until it's built with a more resilient material. Actually, I don't think I would recommend it even then because it didn't seem to stop my bike rack from bouncing.
I thought this would work but your hitch bar will still move up and down.

A single unit does reduce play but I could still easily move the hitch bar up and down which surprised me. I was able to remove it one time. When they say it also acts as an anti theft device, they are correct. Even after I backed off the nut, I could not remove my pin or remove the wedge. You will have to carry something to tap your pin out so it will releave the tension on it. This was my experience with a Valley/Uhaul hitch.

On the second try I figured I would make it tighter to see if it would stop the bar from moving.

I tried to tighten it more and the way this unit cocks on an angle to wedge in. made the nut get stuck at the end threads. I tried to get it off and the eyebolt just sheared off.

I returned for a refund which was granted. If they made the bolt stronger maybe I would rate it a little higher.
